Summary
In the past, Timor, Alor, and Rote islands were not so familiar as Flores and Sumba to bird watchers. That is why these three islands are rarely visited. The lack of people birding on these islands is also the reason why so many bird species are not well described. In the last 5 years, Alor and Rote have officially provided 3 new endemic species to the world bird diversity; they are Rote Myzomela, Rote leaf Warbler, and Alor Myzomela.
The 10 days birding tour on these 3 islands is a great chance to be one of the very few people who discover the incredible island with its undiscovered species.

Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival Day in Kupang – Birding at Bipolo
Arrive at El Tari Airport of Kupang, drive to the hotel for check-in then have lunch at a local restaurant in Kupang. After lunch, drive to Bipolo – Kupang Bay. Birding here with main target waterbirds and shorebirds. Afternoon owling to find Timor Boobook.
Dinner and stay overnight in Kupang
Day 2: Kupang – Rote
After breakfast, drive to the harbor of Tenau to get the fast Ferry to Rote. The Ferry is a fully air-conditioned cabin. Arrive in Rote, check in to the hotel then have lunch at a local restaurant. After Lunch drive to the eastern part of Rote. Birding at Oendui lake till afternoon. Continue owling around Bolaten to find Rote Boobook and Timor Nightjar.
Dinner and stay overnight in Ba’a
Day 3: Birding around Bolatena
Full day birding around Bolatena, Oendui, and Sotimori. Afternoon back to Ba’ a.
Stay overnight in Ba’a
Day 4: Rote – Kupang – Camplong – So’ e
Take a morning flight from Rote. Arrive in Kupang, drive to Camplong. Birding around Camplong till midday. Lunch at a local restaurant around Camplong, then drive to So’ e.
Afternoon birding at Olenasi. Dinner and stay overnight in So’ e
Day 5: Full day birding in Mutis reserve
Depart early in the morning, drive to Fatumnasi. Whole day birding at several location from Fatumnasi to Mount Mutis Reserve. Afternoon back to So’ e. Dinner and stay overnight in So’e.
Day 6: So’e – Olenasi – Kupang
Morning birding at Olenasi till midday. Lunch in So’ e then drive to Kupang. Stop at Camplong or Panmuti.
Dinner and stay overnight in Kupang.
Day 7: Kupang Alor – Apui
Take a morning flight to Alor. Arrive in Alor, drive to Apui. birding around Apui till evening.
Back to Kalabahi, stay overnight in Kalabahi.
Day 8: Birding in Pantar island
Early morning drive to Alor Kecil to get a local boat to Pantar island. Birding in Pantar then back to Kalabahi.
Day 9: Alor – Kupang
Take a morning flight to Kupang. Birding at Kupang Bay and Tilong.
Stay overnight in Kupang.
Day 10: Kupang – Out
Transfer to the airport and out.
